Hi, Iβm Josh β a Senior Product Designer at 1Password π
I have 8+ years experience facilitating an end to end design process across web, desktop, and mobile. I believe transparency and humility build a strong team, and stronger product. Iβm currently building nature filled life in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley.
Before 1Password, I spent 6.5 years helping Turo become the worldβs largest person to person car sharing marketplace.
These are some projects Iβm proud of.
Building trust by coaching new hosts on how to take great car photos.

Poor quality photos were hurting growth in smaller markets. We shipped a guided camera experience to help hosts choose and execute the right shots. We reduced low quality photos, and helped boost checkout conversion.
Improving marketplace safety by adding positive friction.

Maryland passed a law requiring quick action to collect new info from hosts. My team went above and beyond the mandate by bringing the practice to our entire US marketplace. We gained better fraud fighting tools and deterred low quality hosts at no cost to revenue.
Allowing hosts to list & earn anywhere by providing alternative address entry methods.

New hosts, mostly international, were being blocked by address recognition issues. My team shipped a map based remediation tool. We eliminated complaints about the issue, and boosted international revenue by 25%+.
Setting expectations by structuring airport settings.

Airport delivery trips were a significant chunk of Turoβs revenue, but the experience was still an MVP. My team shipped structured settings to set clearer expectations between hosts and guests. We supported continued revenue growth, but failed to impact our core quality metrics. This one is more about a learning moment than impact.
I managed a lot of that collaboration remotely. I have some thoughts about how to do that successfully.
Iβm currently based in Catskill, NY β about 2 hours up the Hudson River from NYC. I share a home with my partner and our two cats, Walter and Llewellyn (good boys with a bad streak). I spend my time free time playing with sourdough (bread, pizza, pretzels etc) or wood (furniture, spoons or other utensils etc). I get outside as much as possible too. My perfect day starts with a early morning hike in the nearby Catskill Mountains.
